The highlight of the season was a match against the Chelsea Pensioners at their home of the Royal Hospital London. A wonderful and informative tour led by Bill. A match played in the glorious setting of the historic buildings designed by Sir Christopher Wren. An impressive buffet meal in the Great Hall and a view of the Wren Chapel. The opportunity to meet a cross-section of these quite amazing veterans of the British Army. A brilliant day.
The first copy of Amersham museum’s latest book All aboard for Amersham (from Market Town to Metroland) was presented by David Balderson, Chairman of Amersham Bowls Club to Major (Retd) Steve Andrews, Captain of Invalids No 2 Company, during the bowling clubs visit to the Royal Hospital, Chelsea. The book was presented as a memento of Amersham in thanks for a memorable day which included a tour, a meal and of course a game of bowls!
